Qoola: Yogurt + Fruit is a Canadian-based Frozen Yogurt chain which offers their patrons a much more healthy alternative for frozen sweets. With their own unique process, they only use 100% fresh ingredients and they take pride in the number of probiotic cultures they serve per gram. Aside from the Yogurt, they also have an extensive menu which you can delight on, from smoothies to waffles to crepes.
Together with expert food bloggers Stacy, Mara and Karl and friends Claire and Jherson we took the taste-test challenge presented by Qoola. Though hesitant on what to do, I didn’t let it stop me and I went to check the place and every details.
During the testing, I just sat quietly on one spot, took some photos and tried the yogurts that were laid right before us. Cup after cup, we have seen and taste it all except for the flavors that weren’t available that time. As much as I want to have a taste of everything especially the Yema-flavored one, there is nothing that I can do. At least now I have got a reason to go back.
The experience was definitely new to me but I see myself doing a lot of taste test in the future so this is just the first of many. Now, I am being more open to changes and who knows, maybe I’ll find my niche in this type of blogging.
And for the verdict, MrBratpacker will rate it based on four factors: Ambiance, Service, Taste and the Price. It will be on a five-star rating, given that five is the highest.
Qoola had its first branch in the Philippines opened in the heart of the Metro at Greenbelt 2. It is your chill place and is definitely good for hangouts. The first floor is like your yogurt factory with array of toppings and selection of yogurt flavors. You can either take with you your treat outside (Greenbelt gardens) if you are more of an outdoorsy person or if you are into smoking or on the second floor if you prefer a much more cozy ambiance. The area is not that crowded and there are just enough chairs, tables and couches. The place also offers a free wifi connection and on the second level, they have a TV and a set of magazines.
It is a self-service store just like most of the yogurt stores that I have been to. Basically, you are free to choose what flavor of yogurt you want and of how much or what toppings you like. During our visit, it was the staff who prepared our yogurts for us and they were all friendly. The only downside is you have to wait if the place is full of foodies and the like, look for your own table and wait until one of the staff get to clean it before you use them.
Every spoonful is a treat of mouth-watering goodness. I do both like the two flavors that was available that day – Original and the Peach Mango. The original flavor has a kick of sourness in it but it is just the right kind of kick and was modulated by the toppings. It doesn’t only tastes good but it is also healthy. We did try a variety of toppings and flavors, mix match it and it did balance well with one another. The fruits really did go well with the original yogurt and it was my favorite. Also goes with the nuts. Okay, now I’m craving for Qoola’s yogurt sweet and tangy taste.
The yogurt’s price is weight-based and it starts at 68 Php per 100 grams. Definitely, a much more lower price compared to its competitors. For something that looks expensive and tastes that good, it is like getting more than what you have paid for.
Overall, the place and the yogurts were good. And to cater for more customers, maybe it is time for some expansion.
Now, if you have been craving for frozen sweets but is conscious with your health, if you are looking for one nice way of cooling down or if you are drooling for some mouth-watering goodness that can make your taste buds happy – you know where to head to.
